Members of the anti-abortion 40 Days For Life hold a vigil near to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on March 05, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. Activists from the American-based anti-abortion group 40 Days For Life are holding vigils outside the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for 40 days between March 5 and April 13, in a campaign against abortion. The group has said it will stay outside the exclusion zone around the hospital to comply with Scotland’s Abortion Services Act, which prohibits activists from demonstrating within 200 meters (218 yards) of an abortion clinic.

In a significant development for the pro-life movement, the organization 40 Days for Life is marking a major milestone, having reportedly saved over 26,000 unborn lives and seen a number of abortion facilities close across the nation. The group’s recent campaign witnessed increased involvement, demonstrating growing support for their cause.
Last Wednesday, the advocacy group shared via a Facebook post that its global efforts since 2007 have resulted in saving at least 26,109 babies from abortion.
Campaign Reach and Impact
The latest 40 Days for Life campaign concluded recently, featuring continuous prayer vigils at numerous Planned Parenthood sites and other clinics for 40 days. This initiative spanned over 1,800 cities worldwide, indicating its extensive reach.
Celebrating this achievement, the organization unveiled a new episode of their “End Abortion Anywhere” webcast. During the webcast, 40 Days for Life President Shawn Carney touched upon the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, emphasizing his influence on the movement. “Not only did he debate politics very well … but in that was definitely the pro-life debate,” Carney reflected, highlighting that Kirk’s efforts boosted campaign participation by 36% in various locations.
Facility Closures and Personal Stories
Steve Karlen, Campaign Director, shared updates on clinic closures in 2025, noting notable shutdowns in traditionally pro-abortion states like California and New York. He highlighted, “This year alone, we have seen abortion facilities close in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, [and] Sacramento, California,” underscoring the closures’ significance in these areas.
Karlen recounted a transformative encounter in Waterbury, Connecticut, where an initially hostile woman ended up reconnecting with her faith after engaging with campaign participants. Her change of heart is seen as a testament to the campaign’s influence, “She was going to go from yelling at the prayer warriors to wanting to go back to her church,” he explained.
