In an unexpected turn that contrasts sharply with her Hollywood upbringing, Lola Sheen, daughter of actors Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, has opened up about her profound spiritual transformation. The 18-year-old’s journey from struggling with depression to discovering faith offers a revealing glimpse into the challenges faced by children growing up in the entertainment industry spotlight.
From Hollywood spotlight to spiritual awakening
Despite her privileged background, Lola experienced persistent feelings of isolation and anxiety throughout her childhood. “I grew up with parents who were in the industry, and I always felt super alone my whole life. I just always felt like I could never find security and never find just something that felt like a home,” she revealed in her testimony.
Unlike her celebrity-embracing older sister Sammy, Lola found herself struggling to fit in. Her battle with depression began at age 16, leading to nearly three years of therapy that provided little lasting relief. By age 18, she reached a critical point, stating, “When I was 18, I was like okay like nothing’s worked. I’ve been in therapy, I feel like I just don’t have anybody.”
A transformative midnight encounter
While dealing with severe anxiety and sleepless nights, Lola experienced what she describes as a life-changing spiritual encounter. After watching a Christian influencer on TikTok, she reports experiencing something extraordinary in her room around midnight.
“I really don’t know how else to put it except the fact that Jesus came in my room,” she shared. “I had never experienced anything like it. His presence came to me… And I felt this overwhelming sense of peace in my room.”
Navigating faith in a secular environment
Though raised Catholic, Lola emphasizes the distinction in her current faith journey: “I grew up Catholic, but I always knew of Jesus. I never knew Him, and that is what changed so much for me when I met Jesus.”
Her newfound faith initially presented challenges, particularly when interacting with family members who weren’t active believers. She recalls feeling self-conscious about having her Bible visible around family and facing questions about her new beliefs.
“Whenever I would get judged, I would believe every word people would say,” she reflected. “When I started to realize and really learn more about Jesus, that’s when I learned how to defend myself and knowing that no matter what, we will be persecuted here because Jesus was persecuted, but we should never be discouraged.”
Moving forward with purpose
Lola recently marked her faith journey publicly with a baptism, sharing photos on Instagram on January 23. She has since launched a podcast called ‘Heavenly Bonded’ and plans to attend Pepperdine University, suggesting a new chapter in her life that combines her spiritual journey with academic pursuits.
