George Santos Under Investigation for Alleged Trading Deception

In a series of dramatic events, former U.S. Representative George Santos is facing scrutiny over alleged insider trading activities on the prediction market platform Kalshi. The investigations, led by the Justice Department and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, focus on Santos’ dubious trading tactics and public deceptions.

Reports indicate that Santos allegedly placed bets against his appearance at Trump’s State of the Union address, despite publicly claiming his enthusiasm about attending the event on the social media platform X. This discrepancy caught the attention of Kalshi’s officials, who subsequently reported the matter to federal authorities in New York and Washington.

According to sources, Santos’ reaction to the unfolding investigation was one of anger and denial. In an unrecorded phone call from a blocked number, Santos reportedly expressed his frustration, questioning the validity of the investigation and claiming his legal team was unaware of any such probe.

During the conversation, Santos refused to divulge details about his legal representation, asserting, “I’m George f*cking Santos, of course I have a legal team.” His conversation with the reporter further escalated with verbal attacks on the credibility of NPR, the outlet reporting the story.

In a twist, Santos allegedly made a threatening remark, stating, “This story is going to get you a gun in your face.” Although he later denied making this statement, insisting he said the story would “blow up in your face,” the incident highlights the intense and often bizarre interactions involving Santos.

Following the reports, Santos took to X to deny the allegations and criticize the journalist involved. He claimed, “I’ve interacted with hundreds of reporters in my life… not once was I ever threatening or aggressive… sassy? Sure but aggressive and threatening? NEVER!” (source).

The unfolding saga has led to Polymarket, a competitor of Kalshi, severing ties with Santos. Polymarket had previously paid him to promote its services on social media. Meanwhile, Santos appears to be diversifying his endeavors by offering discounted personalized videos on Cameo, at 55% off, priced at $150.

Despite the controversy and his attempts to refute the allegations, the investigations into Santos’ activities continue. The incident underscores the challenges journalists face when reporting on high-profile figures, especially those with a history of contentious interactions and public denials.
