Paul Pelosi Involved in Hit-and-Run Accident in California
In a recent incident in California’s wine country, Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Authorities reported that the mishap resulted in “major” damage to a parked car, potentially leading to misdemeanor charges against Pelosi.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office detailed that the event occurred on Friday in Yountville. Pelosi, driving a brown convertible, hit a legally parked vehicle and left the scene without significant delay. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A witness who observed the collision immediately contacted 911. Deputies later found Pelosi and his vehicle, which had damage to the front, approximately a quarter of a mile from where the collision occurred. Pelosi informed the officers that he was aware of hitting something but was uncertain about the specifics of the incident.
Despite the collision, authorities confirmed that Pelosi, aged 86, was not under the influence of alcohol. The sheriff’s office has referred the case to the Department of Motor Vehicles, a standard procedure for assessing the driving capabilities of older drivers.
While Pelosi was not arrested, the sheriff’s office has recommended a misdemeanor charge for leaving the accident scene. Nancy Pelosi’s office has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the situation.
Paul Pelosi has previous legal issues related to driving. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence in Napa County. His sentence included five days in jail and three years of probation, though he served only two days in jail, receiving credit for good conduct and participating in a work program for the remaining day.
During his probation, he was required to complete a three-month program for drinking drivers and install an ignition interlock device on his vehicle. Additionally, he was ordered to pay nearly $7,000 in fines and victim restitution.
In the same year, Pelosi was the victim of a violent attack at his home in San Francisco, where he was severely beaten with a hammer.
