In a thought-provoking perspective, Egyptian-American pastor Dr. Michael A. Youssef warns of a potential threat to Western civilization emanating from what he describes as an “unholy alliance” between left-wing activists and Islamist groups. Dr. Youssef, a cultural anthropologist, presents his argument in a new book, suggesting that left-wing activists are united by the “Omnicause,” which seemingly aligns them with Islamist interests.

This idea is not entirely new. For years, conservative commentators have observed how left-wing individuals tend to rally around diverse issues. Whether it is ill-treated factory workers, repressed homosexuals, women’s reproductive rights, or the plight of Palestinians in Israel, leftist support appears unwavering. Figures such as trade union leaders, pro-choice advocates, and LGBT activists often back these varied causes.

A significant point of concern highlighted by Dr. Youssef is the perceived courting of Islamic support. In his book titled “An Unholy Alliance: How Progressivism Brought About an Islamist Invasion,” he claims that entities like Qatar are investing in American universities and supporting the election of “socialist-Islamist politicians.”

According to Dr. Youssef, this alliance is “a marriage of convenience between two ideologies that agree on one thing: tearing down Judeo-Christian civilization.”

Historical parallels can be drawn from the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which saw initial support from a spectrum of left-wing groups. However, as Ayatollah Khomeini’s Islamic faction solidified control, these left-wing parties were gradually sidelined and eventually eliminated.

The intent behind Dr. Youssef’s book is to serve as “a wake-up call for the Christian church – and for all of Western society.”

Although primarily aimed at an American audience, the book’s themes resonate in Britain as well. The Green Party, for instance, might illustrate this phenomenon. Led by Zack Polanski, a gay Jew promoting leftist utopian ideals, the party also features Mothin Ali, a Muslim deputy leader. Ali, who has shown less enthusiasm for LGBT issues, described his election victory in Leeds as a “win for the people of Gaza.”

Ali has since apologized for his remarks and advocated for collaboration between Muslims and the LGBT community to address “Reform and the far right.”
