The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation recently hosted the 2025 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award Ceremony, a hallmark event honoring individuals who exemplify the courage and commitment to public service that President Kennedy personified. The event, held at Columbia Point, brought together a distinguished audience, including political leaders, family members, and supporters of the JFK legacy.
Honoring Courageous Leadership
Caroline Kennedy, honorary president of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, welcomed attendees by emphasizing the importance of courageous leadership and the values her father stood for—values that resonate with today’s generation as they navigate complex global challenges. “We’re especially grateful for your presence this year as many are afraid to speak out or show up,” Kennedy remarked, highlighting the current climate of fear that underscores the courage required in public service.

Caroline Kennedy expressed gratitude to the JFK Library Foundation’s chairman, Ron Sergeant, and director, Alan Price, for their unwavering dedication to preserving the library’s vibrant presence in the Boston community. Rachel Dlo, the foundation’s executive director, was also praised for her leadership in elevating the library’s profile through initiatives like the partnership with Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.
Recognizing Remarkable Courage
The 2025 Profile in Courage Award was presented to former Vice President Mike Pence, honored for his actions on January 6, 2021. Caroline Kennedy recounted the events of that day, acknowledging Pence’s steadfast commitment to upholding the Constitution amidst immense pressure. “His act of courage saved our government and warned us about what could happen and is happening right now,” she noted, reflecting on the broader implications for democracy.
