Trump Addresses Military Pay Amid Government Shutdown Concerns

Amidst ongoing negotiations in Congress regarding the reopening of the federal government, President Trump has announced measures to ensure that active military personnel receive their paychecks. This announcement was made through a post on Truth Social, where Trump stated, “I am using my authority, as Commander in Chief, to direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to get our Troops PAID on October 15th.”

Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, as active-duty troops faced the possibility of missing their paychecks on October 15. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth supported this directive by reposting Trump’s announcement, stating, “President Trump delivers for the troops.”

A White House official, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the Defense Department plans to use existing research and development funds to pay military personnel. These funds are valid for two years, although the specific amount allocated was not disclosed.

In a related event, Trump assured service members at a Navy event in Norfolk, Virginia, that they would receive their due compensation. “We will get our service members every last penny,” he stated, urging them not to worry. This sentiment echoes his previous commitment to ensure military pay continues despite the government shutdown.
