(2 Corinthians 4:6, NIV) – “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”
Since the dawn of creation, God has been speaking light into darkness. His very words brought forth the brilliance that broke the chaos of the void in Genesis. Yet, His creative power doesn’t end there: He continues to do this miraculous work in human hearts. Just as He spoke light into the world, He now kindles His illuminating grace within us, revealing His glory in the face of Christ.
In the world today, many live in spiritual blindness, unaware of the treasure that is Jesus. The “god of this age” keeps countless people in darkness, distorting the truth about the Savior. Jesus may be seen by some as a good teacher or a historical figure, but they miss the fullness; He is the radiant image of the invisible God, the embodiment of all hope and glory. Only God’s divine light breaks through this blindness, enabling us to experience the true depth of His love.
When His light shines in our hearts, it transforms everything. The same Creator who lit the first spark in the universe ignites the flame of faith, showing us His glory in Christ. This light moves us to abandon the shadows of sin that once enveloped us. It empowers us to not only embrace His forgiveness but also become His vessels—carrying His light to a world still wrapped in darkness.
As we journey through life, these truths encourage us to let His light radiate from within. It’s not simply about speaking of God’s love but living it out in ways that others see and feel. God uses our lives to reflect His glory, much like the moon reflects the sun’s light. May we daily embrace this calling with joy as He shapes us into His image bearers.
Let us pray.
Lord of light, You spoke life into existence, and now You speak it into our hearts through Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for breaking through the darkness with Your truth and glory. Shine through us, Lord, as we reflect Your love to a world longing for hope. Help us to turn from sin and live out Your light with grace and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
