(Deuteronomy 29:29, NIV) – “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”

In our journey of faith, there are moments when we wrestle with mysteries we cannot grasp: unanswered prayers, unforeseen challenges, or seemingly silent seasons. This verse reminds us that not everything is meant for us to understand. Some things belong solely to the wisdom of God, and as our Creator, He is infinitely beyond our comprehension. Yet amidst this mystery, there is also grace—God lovingly reveals to us what we need to know to live by His Word.

Consider this: While our human inclination often craves control and clarity, God invites us to rest in trust instead. Isaiah 55:8-9 echoes this truth: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Faith grows in the fertile ground of surrender, where we let go of what we don’t understand and lean instead on God’s perfect character—His goodness, faithfulness, and sovereignty.

Through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we are granted insight into the things God has revealed. As it says in 1 Corinthians 2:10-12: “The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God… What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” God doesn’t leave us to wander through life’s uncertainties alone. He gives us His Spirit to guide us, comfort us, and remind us of His promises.

When faced with what you cannot understand, take hold of what God has made plain: His love, His Word, and His call to trust Him. Rest in the assurance that while you may not know the whole story, God holds it all in His hands. And what He has revealed—His mercy, His purpose, and His eternal plan for redemption—is more than enough to give us peace.

Let us pray.

Lord, You are the keeper of mysteries and the revealer of truth. Thank You for giving us what we need to walk faithfully with You. Increase our trust in Your wisdom and deepen our sense of peace as we rest in Your care. Guide us by Your Spirit to live according to what You have lovingly made known. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
