(Ephesians 2:14, NIV) – “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.”

Throughout history, humanity has been marked by divisions. Whether by culture, status, or belief, people tend to build walls—barriers that separate, categorize, and exclude. These divisions can seem unbreakable, fueling misunderstanding and conflict. Yet, in Christ, we see a different way.

When Jesus came, He dismantled the greatest divide of all—the separation between Jew and Gentile. Through His sacrifice, He tore down walls of hostility, extending reconciliation not just between people, but between humanity and God. His love knows no borders, flowing freely where barriers once stood.

In today’s world, division persists in many forms. Social differences, personal grievances, and even unnoticed biases can create unseen walls in our hearts. But Jesus calls us to be peacemakers, building bridges where there once were boundaries. He invites us to mirror His work of reconciliation, to reach beyond our comfort zones, and to love others with the fullness of His grace.

Where might God be calling you to tear down a wall of separation? Is there a relationship that needs mending? A group of people you’ve hesitated to embrace? The peace of Christ is not idle—it moves, heals, and restores. And as we open our hearts to His reconciling power, we find that peace isn’t just something we receive—it’s something we are called to live out and share.

Let us pray.

Lord of peace and unity, soften our hearts where division dwells. Teach us to love beyond boundaries, to reconcile where there is hurt, and to build bridges where walls have formed. May Your spirit of peace guide us to be agents of grace in a world longing for unity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
