House Freedom Caucus and Family Research Council Unite in Prayer for Nation

Amidst a backdrop of political unrest and societal challenges, members of the House Freedom Caucus and the Family Research Council gathered for a moment of communal prayer. The event, held Thursday evening, was a call for divine intervention to address the growing issue of political violence in the United States.

Presided over by Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, the gathering sought blessings not only for the nation but also for President Donald Trump. Participants prayed for wisdom during the ongoing federal government shutdown, protection for Israel, and a triumph of truth amid turmoil.

‘A Nation in Need of Healing’

Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., initiated the prayers by acknowledging the country’s spiritual fractures and invoking divine guidance. “This is a nation that is broken. The people are broken, and we desperately need you, Lord,” Clyde emphasized, calling for unity grounded in righteousness.

Clyde also prayed for strength for the nation’s pastors, stressing the importance of spiritual leadership in healing the nation’s divisions. “Because if our hearts are right, then everything else will be right, as well,” he stated.

‘Prayer Against Violence’

Christian author Frank Turek, who experienced the tragic loss of his friend Charlie Kirk, extended prayers against the pervasive spirit of rage and violence. “Help us to be peacemakers. Help us to stay on the truth, without being caustic,” Turek urged, reflecting on the need for peace and understanding.

Turek drew inspiration from Psalm 140, appealing for divine protection against malevolent forces. Reflecting on Kirk’s death, he remarked, “You allowed it to happen because you allow free will, but you also promise that all things work together for good to those that love God.”

‘Support for Leadership’

The evening also included prayers for President Trump from Reps. Mark Harris, R-N.C., and Andy Biggs, R-Ariz. Their prayers, encapsulating guidance and protection, were rooted in 1 Timothy 2.

Harris, invoking the “still small voice” of the Holy Spirit, prayed that Trump would be guided wisely, noting the providential escape from an assassination attempt. Echoing this sentiment, Biggs prayed for divinely inspired protection over the President.

‘Truth Amid Deception’

Former Congressman Jody Hice, now with the Family Research Council, highlighted the pervading deceit in media and politics, particularly regarding gender and abortion. He prayed for truth to pierce through falsehoods, asking God to open the hearts of the nation to divine wisdom.

‘Hope for the Future’

Concluding the event, Dr. Ben Carson offered a prayer of hope and unity, acknowledging the United States’ reliance on God throughout its history. Citing Romans 15:13, Perkins urged the audience to continue steadfast in prayer.

“Be praying for your communities, your neighbors. Pray for the church,” Perkins encouraged. “We want to continue to call upon the God of all hope, who has the ability to transform our nation into the nation that we desire to be.”
