Indiana Church Aims to Raise $1 Million for New Homeless Shelter

A congregation in Boonville, Indiana, is embarking on a significant mission to address homelessness in their community. Impact Ministries has set forth an ambitious goal to gather $1 million in donations, which will fund the construction of a new shelter for those in need.

Nicole Kolley, the assistant director of the growing church, explained the motivation behind the initiative. “Because we see a very real need in our county,” Kolley shared with The Christian Post, highlighting the urgency and community-driven nature of the project.

Established in October 2024, Impact Ministries is part of The Wesleyan Church. Kolley emphasized their broader vision, aiming to establish not just a shelter but a center for life skills and stability. “Many individuals and families are facing homelessness, housing instability, or significant life challenges,” she noted, stressing the importance of community collaboration.

To realize this vision, the church plans to purchase land and construct a facility, with hopes of securing contributions from 2,000 donors, each contributing $500. Kolley believes the shelter will serve both physical and spiritual needs, advancing their mission to provide hope and transformation through Christ.

By offering resources such as food, safe lodging, and worship opportunities, the church aims to create a “Christ-centered environment where people can experience hope and transformation,” according to Kolley.

The church has already experienced overwhelming support from the community, which has fueled their confidence in executing such a sizable endeavor. They plan to keep the community informed with monthly updates on the project’s progress.

“We believe this project can make a lasting difference in how our community responds to homelessness and those facing financial, emotional, or personal struggles,” Kolley stated, expressing the church’s commitment to walking alongside those in need and being a beacon of hope.
