Lauren Chandler, wife of Pastor Matt Chandler, has returned home to continue her recovery from a mysterious illness after spending several days in the hospital. The news was shared by her husband through an Instagram update, bringing relief to friends and followers who have been concerned about her health.
Matt Chandler, who leads The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas, expressed his relief and appreciation as he announced Lauren’s discharge. “All Lauren’s numbers look great,” he stated, adding that while some lab results were still pending, the family could await them from the comfort of their home.
Thankful for the progress, Chandler said, “Our infectious diseases doc is informing the hospitalist that we can go home!!” He went on to thank everyone who supported them through prayers and asked for continued prayers for Lauren’s recovery, which is anticipated to last a couple of months.
Initially, Chandler had disclosed Lauren’s hospitalization via Instagram, mentioning her third day in care due to a “super high fever and other symptoms.” As medical tests returned negative results, doctors suspected a viral infection and anticipated an improvement in her condition soon.
The symptoms Lauren experienced were severe, including a “brutal headache from the spinal tap” and “double pneumonia.” Fortunately, in a subsequent update, Chandler shared that Lauren had turned a corner for the better, regaining her complexion and energy.
“They still haven’t identified the virus but have ruled out most of the scary autoimmune diseases,” Chandler mentioned. The doctors assured him that once Lauren could maintain 48 hours without fever or medication, she would be cleared to leave the hospital.
Throughout this ordeal, Chandler has been vocal about his gratitude for the well-wishes and prayers from their community. Beyond her roles at The Village Church, Lauren Chandler is an accomplished author and musician, having published books like Praise Him! and Goodbye to Goodbyes, as well as a memoir titled Steadfast Love.
