Parents constantly strive to protect their children from danger, implementing every safety measure imaginable. Yet despite our best efforts at childproofing and vigilance, unexpected emergencies can still strike in an instant. The reality that divine protection ultimately safeguards our children becomes profoundly clear in moments of crisis.

A mother shares her story

The 28-year-old reality star recounted the harrowing experience in a Saturday, April 12 Instagram post, featuring a video of Kit peacefully resting on her chest in a porch swing. The word “Miracle” and a dove emoji accompanied the footage, set to ‘Million Little Miracles’ by Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music. Robertson Huff acknowledged the difficulty of sharing such a personal trauma publicly.

“This feels hard to talk about in my real life, much less on social media, but I do feel it is worth sharing because I truly believe awareness of it will save lives,” she wrote.

The television personality opened up about processing the aftermath of the incident. “I’m currently walking through the waves of anxiety from the trauma of the situation, and the immense gratitude for the miracle of Kit’s full recovery and God’s undeniable hand on this situation,” she shared.

“I’ve been off social media and having my family and amazing team help me on here for some time while I work on having a sound mind.”

When seconds counted

The emergency unfolded rapidly while Robertson Huff prepared dinner and Kit ate a snack in her high chair. When the infant began choking, her grandmother immediately lifted her from the chair and handed her to Robertson Huff. Within moments, Kit had stopped breathing completely.

The family mobilized immediately into coordinated action. Robertson Huff’s mother contacted emergency services while she administered CPR. Other family members moved the couple’s older children downstairs and began praying aloud. The situation demanded both practical intervention and spiritual support.

“I am one of those people who likes to be prepared for all situations, so I’ve watched several videos while hoping and praying I would never have to use this knowledge,” Robertson Huff wrote.

“I can only explain it now like my body just knew what to do. I felt God’s Spirit guiding me, partnering with me in what I had learned and seen. I remember saying out loud, ‘What do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life.”

A breakthrough moment

The emergency response protocols proved effective. “After following protocol for a baby choking and doing CPR, Kit miraculously coughed and began to breathe, just as the paramedics arrived… it was truly terrifying, but God.”

During the ambulance ride to the hospital, Robertson Huff experienced mixed emotions of relief and lingering fear while continuing to praise God. Her husband Christian followed in his vehicle and later shared something remarkable with her. “Christian drove behind, following us, and told me there was a rainbow over the ambulance the whole way there,” she wrote.

Kit required overnight observation at the medical facility. “We stayed the night for observation,” Robertson Huff said, “but she charmed the nurses just a few hours later and is now perfectly healthy, happy, and brightening everyone’s day!”

Using her platform for awareness

Robertson Huff and Christian, who wed in 2019, are parents to Kit and her older sisters Honey, 4, and Haven, 2. The family currently appears in the second season of ‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival,’ which debuted on March 7. Robertson Huff also produces the WHOA That’s Good Podcast and authored ‘Live Original.’

Despite her public platform, she emphasized that sharing this experience went beyond maintaining her social media presence. She viewed it as both a testimony of faith and an urgent message about emergency preparedness for parents everywhere.

“It happened SO fast, and I’m so thankful I was able to go straight into action!” she wrote. “We know that God has our children in His hands — we are not in control of our children’s breath or even of our own. We can’t live in a state of fear… we have to trust God in all of it. And also, preparation and knowledge in the spiritual and physical sense can be a gift that you can give yourself and your family! Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!”

Robertson Huff’s experience demonstrates how prior preparation combined with faith can make the critical difference in life-threatening emergencies. Her decision to study emergency response techniques before ever needing them, paired with her family’s immediate spiritual and practical response, created the conditions for Kit’s survival. The story serves as both an encouragement to trust in divine protection and a practical call for parents to equip themselves with lifesaving skills.
