Senator Rand Paul’s Calls for DOJ Investigation into Fauci Remain Unanswered
On the popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Sen. Rand Paul expressed his frustrations regarding the lack of action from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning his repeated referrals for an investigation into Dr. Anthony Fauci. Paul claims that despite providing evidence of Fauci’s alleged misleading testimonies to Congress, the DOJ has not responded.
Senator Paul, who leads the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, pointed out that Dr. Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, allegedly lied about U.S. funding for controversial research at Wuhan Institute. He has accused Fauci of destroying critical communications related to this matter.
“Under the Biden administration, I sent criminal referrals for Anthony Fauci to [former Attorney General] Merrick Garland twice, and I sent them evidence that he had lied to Congress, which was a felony. They just ignored me,” stated Paul during his conversation with Joe Rogan.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Health and Human Services Secretary and author of the 2021 book The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health, has been collaborating with Paul to gather information on Fauci’s conduct.
Paul revealed, “We’ve looked at the communications, and in Anthony Fauci’s communications, we now have evidence that he was telling people like [former NIH Director] Francis Collins, ‘Read this and destroy it.’ Well, you can’t do that.”
The senator remains steadfast in his belief that Fauci should be held accountable, questioning the validity of a supposed preemptive pardon issued by President Joe Biden, which he suggests should be legally challenged.
Notably, in October, the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a report criticizing the misuse of presidential powers, highlighting issues such as the unauthorized use of autopen for signing documents. Former President Donald Trump declared these pardons as “void, vacant, and of no further force or effect,” although the legal community remains divided on the necessity of a president’s physical signature for pardons.
Sen. Paul’s confrontations with Fauci have drawn significant attention, including a notable exchange in May 2021, where Fauci firmly denied lying about NIH’s funding for gain-of-function research, retorting, “If anyone is lying here, senator, it is you.”
Central to Paul’s claims is a $3.4 million grant awarded to EcoHealth Alliance in 2014, which allegedly funded research at the Wuhan lab. However, PolitiFact has reported that all involved parties have denied any gain-of-function research was conducted under this grant.
