Record-Breaking Outreach for ‘Shine Your Light’ Campaign During Christmas
In a remarkable achievement, the Christmas “Shine Your Light” campaign has surpassed its outreach goals, impacting more than 3.5 million individuals with its message. Originally aiming to reach 2 million, the campaign exceeded expectations through numerous events like carol services, open-air sermons, and even a prison broadcast.
The campaign’s efforts called for the participation of 200,000 Christian witnesses across various locations. As the festive season wrapped up, data shows that 1,832 events were organized, successfully reaching 3,531,871 people—a 10.4% increase compared to the previous year. Over 300,000 Christians engaged in these outreach activities.
Prominent figures such as King Charles III, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and Tory leader Kemi Badenoch publicly supported the campaign. Led by the National Day of Prayer and Worship (NDOPW), the campaign attributed its success to prayer, including a 72-hour digital prayer session held from December 12 to 14.
Pastor Jonathan Oloyede, the founder and convenor of Shine Your Light, expressed, “We have been deeply humbled and genuinely overwhelmed by the extraordinary response from churches across these Isles.
“From England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to communities across Ireland, believers stepped forward with incredible faith and unity. The level of participation, scale and impact far exceeded anything we anticipated, and we give all the glory to God.
“In 2025, our vision was to mobilise 200,000 Christians to reach two million people during the Christmas season. But after analysing 1,832 outreach events, we are thrilled to report that 308,730 Christians reached an astonishing 5,531,871 people – a 207% increase on 2024.
“Behind every number is a story. We are hearing inspiring testimonies of ordinary believers – many who once felt unable or hesitant to share their faith — now stepping out boldly as lights in their communities.”
Meanwhile, the Winchester Cathedral also celebrated a successful Christmas, with events throughout the season attracting large numbers of visitors and worshippers.
