The Shine Your Light Christmas campaign has made a significant impact this year, exceeding the expectations of its organizers. Local churches have rallied together, reaching millions across the UK and Ireland with their festive events.

From December 12 to 14, church-led events reached over 3 million individuals. The campaign began with The Salvation Army’s carol service at the Royal Albert Hall, attracting 5,000 attendees.

Numerous activities, including community carols at venues like Warrington Rugby Stadium and Aston Villa Stadium, alongside street outreach and workplace gatherings, helped in spreading the Christmas message.

The initiative gained additional visibility with a feature on BBC’s Songs of Praise on December 14, watched by approximately one million viewers.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God engaged its members from more than 900 churches, who took the Christmas message to railway stations, shopping centers, and community hubs nationwide.

A special carol service, produced in collaboration with Spring Harvest, was scheduled for broadcast to around 56,000 prisoners over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Green Pastures also partnered to air the service in its homeless shelters.

Pastor Jonathan Oloyede, the founder of Shine Your Light, expressed profound gratitude for the campaign’s success, saying it was “blessed beyond all we could ever imagine.”

He noted an increase in participation, with hundreds joining daily online prayer rooms and 72-hour prayer vigils supported by various churches and individuals. He remarked, “The BBC contacted us because they wanted to showcase what God is doing when local churches unite in mission.”

Pastor Oloyede highlighted inspiring stories of renewed evangelistic efforts, mentioning a disabled woman from Witney, Oxfordshire, who started a TikTok channel to share her faith, garnering over 8,000 followers.

Elder Mark Davies from Paignton Baptist Church shared that his congregation joined Shine Your Light for the first time, integrating it into their Advent activities. They engaged in outdoor caroling, one-on-one conversations, and community outreach on their local street.

Major Scott Cunliffe of Bangor Salvation Army utilized Shine Your Light resources to support a comprehensive festive schedule, including carol services at various non-traditional locations such as a bowling center and a golf club.

The outreach was planned to culminate on Christmas Day with carols at a Parkrun event for over 400 participants, followed by a service at a special learning center. Major Cunliffe noted, “Throughout December we’ve been out in the community almost daily.”

The campaign’s next event will be a national prayer vigil, running from January 5 to February 5, 2026. Pastor Oloyede concluded, “We thank God for every story we hear of new Believers coming to faith. Churches are reporting better-prepared and better-resourced outreach, growing confidence in sharing the Gospel and a fresh unity across denominational lines. God is clearly doing something new in local communities.”
