Celebrated Actor T.K. Carter Passes Away at 69

DUARTE, Calif. — Renowned for his diverse roles across film and television, T.K. Carter has passed away at the age of 69. Known for his memorable performances in the horror film “The Thing” and the TV series “Punky Brewster,” Carter’s death marks the end of an era for many fans and peers.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that Carter was found unresponsive in Duarte, California, on Friday evening. Although the authorities have not disclosed the cause of his death, they have confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play.

Born Thomas Kent Carter on December 18, 1956, in New York City, Carter’s upbringing in Southern California set the stage for his entry into the entertainment industry. He began his journey in show business as a stand-up comedian, eventually transitioning into acting where he made his mark with his role as Nauls in John Carpenter’s iconic 1982 horror film, “The Thing.” His talents also graced the small screen with a recurring role in the 1980s sitcom “Punky Brewster.”

In addition to his television success, Carter appeared in a variety of films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including “Runaway Train” (1985), “Ski Patrol” (1990), and the beloved family favorite “Space Jam” (1996).

Reflecting on Carter’s legacy, his publicist Tony Freeman shared, “T.K. Carter was a consummate professional and a genuine soul whose talent transcended genres. He brought laughter, truth, and humanity to every role he touched. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of artists and fans alike.”
