Vice President JD Vance to Address 2026 March for Life Rally
In a significant event for the pro-life community, Vice President JD Vance is set to deliver a speech at the upcoming March for Life rally in Washington, D.C. This marks the 53rd year of this prominent gathering, which remains the largest of its kind in the nation.
The announcement was made on Friday by the March for Life organization, confirming Vance’s presence at the event scheduled for Jan. 23 at the National Mall.
March for Life President Jennie Bradley Lichter expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Vice President Vance back to the March for Life this year.” She further emphasized the rally’s symbolic importance, saying, “His presence at this year’s March underscores the importance of this iconic event and the centrality of the pro-life movement to a healthy conservative coalition. We are honored that he will join us in standing up for the unborn alongside our marchers from all over the country.”
The March for Life commemorates the anniversary of the 1973 Supreme Court ruling Roe v. Wade, which had legalized abortion nationwide. This decision was overturned in June 2022 by the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson, allowing several states to implement strict abortion bans.
Last year, the March for Life unveiled the theme, “Life is a Gift,” intended to inspire participation in a movement that “transcends politics and celebrates the joy, beauty and goodness of life itself by recommitting ourselves,” according to Lichter’s previous statements.
Vice President Vance, a former Congress member and author of the bestseller Hillbilly Elegy, addressed the March for Life last year shortly after assuming office. During his speech, he remarked on the nation’s shortcomings in supporting young parents and advocated for a culture that values life at every stage.
Vance stated, “It is the task of our government to make it easier for young moms and dads to afford to have kids, to bring them into the world and to welcome them as the blessings that we know they are.” He added that it should be simpler for families to thrive, find employment, secure housing, and raise children.
