The university’s decision to revisit this issue comes in the wake of newly disclosed emails highlighting Summers’ continued relationship with Epstein, even after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Although Harvard’s statement did not specifically name Summers, the context suggests his involvement. In response to the situation, Summers has announced his intention to withdraw from various public roles, including resigning from the board of directors at OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.
