In an era where longevity secrets are sought in expensive supplements and trendy diets, a Texas woman who just turned 107 years old points to something entirely different as the source of her remarkable lifespan. Her unwavering faith in God, she says, has been the true foundation of her extraordinary journey through more than a century of life.
Cretora Biggerstaff, who answers to the nickname Tara, marked her 107th birthday on January 16th with a celebration at Paradise Springs. Born in 1919, she has witnessed historical transformations that span from the end of World War I through the digital age, experiencing changes that most people only encounter in history textbooks.
A mind that remains sharp
Despite her advanced age, Cretora’s family confirms she remains mentally sharp and maintains the same personality they’ve always known and loved. Her cognitive clarity at 107 is particularly remarkable, allowing her to actively participate in conversations and share her life wisdom with younger generations.
Faith as the foundation
When asked about the secret to her longevity, Cretora doesn’t hesitate to give credit where she believes it’s due. “I give every credit to the man up above,” she stated. Her perspective on her long life is shaped by both joyful and difficult experiences. “I’ve seen a great deal. Some things good, some things bad,” she noted.
Throughout all of life’s ups and downs, her spiritual beliefs have served as her constant support. “What keeps me going is my faith, I give credit to the good lord,” she explained. She also expressed her conviction that her continued presence on earth serves a divine purpose: “He’s keeping me here for a purpose.”
Healthy habits and an active lifestyle
According to her daughter Sue Tosi, Cretora has enjoyed remarkably good health throughout her life. She abstained from smoking and drinking alcohol, choices that likely contributed to her wellbeing. Beyond avoiding harmful substances, she maintained an active lifestyle that included extensive travel around the world.
Cretora also instilled important values in her children, teaching them to respect one another. Her resilient attitude continues to define her character even now. “I’m a fighter, I don’t give up,” she declared, demonstrating the determination that has carried her through 107 years.
