“He also made the stars.”
Genesis 1:16

Have you ever paused under a night sky brimming with stars? The stillness and vastness can stir awe in our hearts. Even on nights when the moon is absent and the darkness seems complete, the stars quietly remind us that light still prevails. In Genesis 1:16, we learn that God created the sun and the moon—and almost as an aside, it’s noted, “He also made the stars.” This brief mention carries profound significance. Those stars, scattered like flecks of light across a dark canvas, testify to God’s sustaining power and presence.

In our lives, we might long for God’s work to be as unmistakable as the noonday sun or as radiant as a full moon. But often, God’s presence is quieter, like the distant but steady light of the stars. These moments might seem small or easy to overlook, but they are vital reminders that the darkness does not have the final word.

Isn’t it amazing that even when Jesus was born, God used a star? That light in the sky guided the Magi through the night to the Savior of the world. It was as if God whispered, “Even when darkness surrounds you, I’m lighting your way.”

As you journey through life, you might face times when God seems distant, and His work in your life feels insignificant. Yet, just like the stars, He is always there—faithful, present, and quietly illuminating your path. Every small blessing, every comforting word of Scripture, every reminder of His love is a glimmer of that divine light breaking through the shadows.

So tonight, perhaps you can look up. Let the stars remind you: God is steadfast. Amid any darkness, His light is unyielding. You may not always see how He’s working right now, but His presence is unwavering. He also made the stars, and He lights your way.

Let us pray:
Lord of all creation, we thank You for the quiet, steady light of the stars that reminds us of Your eternal presence. In moments when life feels shadowed or uncertain, help us to trust that Your light still shines through, guiding and sustaining us. Teach us to find hope in the smallest signs of Your faithfulness, and let our hearts rest in Your constant love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
