Schwarz noted “by God’s grace” first responders were right there, and remarkably, halfway to the clinic, Nova began breathing again. The infant was subsequently transported to Banner Medical Center in Tucson for further treatment.

The medical emergency was particularly frightening given Nova’s underlying health challenges. The baby girl had been born with a hole in her heart, a congenital condition that required surgical intervention. This pre-existing cardiac issue made the breathing emergency even more critical.
