Authorities arrested Jeanine John Taele, 38, after observing him take photos and videos while in possession of a 16-round magazine loaded with ammunition at the Rancho Palos Verdes golf course. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a loaded pistol, and a further search of his Downey residence uncovered additional weapons and gear, including firearms, magazines, body armor, and notebooks containing “concerning statements.”

The arrest took place as former President Donald Trump was set to arrive for the event at his Los Angeles-area golf club. Taele now faces multiple felony charges, including second-degree robbery, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and a short-barreled rifle or shotgun. A misdemeanor charge for carrying a concealed firearm in his vehicle was also filed.

Taele has pled not guilty to all charges and has been instructed to avoid the golf course while refraining from possessing any weapons. His bail stands at $250,000. It remains unclear whether Taele has legal representation, and attempts to reach family members for comment have been unsuccessful.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Taele was also under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department for a robbery incident. Despite the concerning findings, the sheriff’s department has assured the public that there is “no credible threat to our communities.”

In a related incident, a jury convicted a man in 2025 for attempting to assassinate Trump at his Florida country club.
