When Kayla Daniels opened her home to eight-month-old twin boys in October 2021, she had no idea her life was about to transform in ways she never imagined. What started as a foster placement would evolve into a nearly three-year journey that ultimately united three brothers under one loving roof.

The Arkansas single mother recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show to share the remarkable story of how she became the adoptive parent to three siblings who might have otherwise been separated in the foster care system.

The journey begins with twin boys

Daniels welcomed twin boys Kaden and Jaden into her home when they were just eight months old. Shortly after, she discovered something that would change the trajectory of her foster care experience: the twins had an older brother.

According to CBS affiliate 5NEWS, she learned about MJ, whose name stands for Maverick Jace, and took him into her care the following month. Her determination to keep the siblings together became the driving force behind everything that followed.

935 days to finalize adoption

The legal adoption process stretched over 935 grueling days. Daniels endured demanding 10-hour days that included five hours of driving each way to attend court proceedings. Throughout this uncertain period, she never knew for certain whether the boys would remain with her or eventually leave her care.

Initially, Daniels hoped the boys might reunite with their biological family, which she noted is the primary goal of foster care. However, circumstances led to adoption becoming the outcome instead. She shared during her television appearance that “God’s plan was just so different for us” than what she originally anticipated.

Faith and support sustained her

When asked how she managed the challenges of foster parenting, Daniels credited the “three Fs, family, faith, and friends” for providing strength during difficult times. Despite initial doubts about her abilities as a mother, she trusted that “God is going to give you everything you need” to succeed.

She expressed that fostering became a spiritual calling, explaining “it becomes like this thing from God where he like he’s entrusting you with them. And so like you have to honor them and you also have to honor him with them.”

During particularly challenging moments in the lengthy adoption process, Daniels recalled receiving divine reassurance. She remembered feeling God tell her “They’re going to be your kids. You’re going to be their mom, and I have equipped you with everything you need.”

A magical surprise and encouraging others

During her appearance on the show, Jennifer Hudson surprised the family with a vacation to Walt Disney World, adding a celebratory moment to their already joyful story.

Daniels refers to her three sons as her “Sonshines” and told 5NEWS “They are truly God’s gift to me. I’m so elated to be their mom and get to do life with them because they are just such amazing boys.”

For others contemplating foster care, she offers simple but powerful advice: “If you’re thinking about fostering, I would absolutely say do it.”

The story highlights the reality that many children in the foster care system face separation from siblings, but also demonstrates how dedication and love can keep families together against significant odds.
