Georgia Church’s Generosity Supports Hundreds of Families

In a heartwarming display of community support, Solid Rock Church of Midland, Georgia, recently organized a substantial grocery giveaway event to assist local families facing economic challenges. With a regular congregation of 300, the church successfully provided essential groceries to 400 families.

The giveaway, held on a Saturday, was more than just a charitable act, explained Lead Pastor Jay Bailey. “We decided to do the grocery giveaway because we realized that many in our community are going through a difficult time, and if we could, in some small way, make a difference in helping to fill the gap, we would be living out the love of Christ,” Bailey said.

According to Bailey’s account, while the church had held similar events during the COVID-19 pandemic, this recent event stood out for its size and impact. It involved the distribution of over 1,500 bags and 250 boxes of nonperishable items.

Bailey emphasized the importance of such initiatives, noting, “Anytime we can demonstrate the love of Jesus in practical ways to those in need, we are showing people they matter to God and to us.” He further highlighted this act as “love in motion,” underscoring the church’s commitment to embodying Jesus’s teachings through service.

The church, part of the Assemblies of God, outlines on its website its mission as a “L.I.F.E. giving church,” focusing on loving God, investing in relationships, finding ministry opportunities, and engaging the world. The church challenges its members with the question: “How can I use my one and only life to transform the world around me?”

Solid Rock Church’s approach aims to go beyond its walls, addressing both spiritual and practical needs within the community. Their efforts aim to provide hope, inspire change, and leave a lasting impact, aligning with their belief that true fulfillment comes from living out God’s purpose.
