When a century-old man and his elderly wife needed assistance at a Florida gas station, three strangers stepped forward without hesitation, creating a moment of kindness that would soon resonate with thousands online.
Officer Kanesha Carnegie from the Levy County Sheriff’s Office in Bronson, Florida, witnessed the compassionate scene unfold at a Williston gas station parking lot. The law enforcement officer had initially planned to help the elderly couple herself but discovered that three young men had already come to their aid. Recognizing the significance of the moment, she decided to document it on video instead.
An elderly couple’s struggle turns into a heartwarming moment
The elderly couple had stopped at the gas station so that 89-year-old Rose Griest could use the restroom facilities. Her 100-year-old husband accompanied her, but the brief outing proved more exhausting than anticipated. Rose found herself unable to climb back into their vehicle without help, facing a challenging situation that required more strength than she could muster.
The three friends who provided assistance were later identified as Joc Koe Stoe, Marty, and Freddy G. They happened to be at the right place at the right time and didn’t hesitate to offer their support to the struggling couple.
Capturing compassion on camera
Before recording the interaction, Officer Kanesha made sure to get permission from the three young men. Her intention was clear: to share their act of kindness with others and potentially inspire similar compassionate behavior in her community and beyond. The video she captured showed the men carefully and respectfully helping Rose back into the car while her centenarian husband looked on.
The footage quickly gained traction on social media, touching the hearts of viewers who appreciated seeing such a genuine display of community support and intergenerational kindness.
