The dramatic events of 13 July 2024 marked a turning point in Donald Trump’s life, according to his longtime spiritual advisor. The former President narrowly escaped a fatal encounter when a gunman opened fire during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Pastor Mark Burns from Harvest Praise and Worship Centre in South Carolina shared insights into how this harrowing event reshaped Trump’s religious perspective. Burns, speaking on GB News, firmly attributed Trump’s survival to divine intervention.

“He knows, without a shadow of doubt, that the hand of God was – is – upon his life,” Pastor Burns emphasized during a discussion on Christianity in Britain.

The pastor recounted the attack’s details, explaining how a bullet came within millimeters of the President’s head. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, fired eight rounds, one of which tragically ended the life of Corey Comperatore, an audience member.

Images of Trump, with blood visible on his face, rallying the crowd with cries of “fight, fight, fight” quickly spread around the globe, capturing the tense moment.

Burns expressed that the incident could have been reminiscent of a historic tragedy. “That was what we were supposed to witness: a JFK part two, live on television,” he remarked.

The encounter has had a profound effect on Trump’s spiritual journey, as Pastor Burns noted the significant transformation in his faith. “So when you talk about: ‘Is he more spiritual?’ 100 per cent,” stated Burns.

In response to this life-altering event, efforts are underway to commemorate the moment with a striking 22-foot statue in Doral, Florida, where Trump owns a golf resort. The statue, cast in bronze and adorned with gold leaf, symbolizes the President’s resilience.

“It symbolises when he was shot in the ear and how he defiantly raised his fist with the blood coming down the side of his face, telling the whole world ‘fight, fight, fight’,” Pastor Burns explained.

The White House is reportedly coordinating with the President’s schedule to ensure his presence at the statue’s unveiling. For many of Trump’s supporters, this act is a testament to his perceived divine appointment as a leader.

In the same year as the assassination attempt, Trump reportedly earned $300,000 (£273,000) through sales of bespoke Bibles, further highlighting his connection to faith-based initiatives.
