Global Milestone: YouVersion Celebrates One Billion Installs with a Livestream Event
The YouVersion Bible App is marking a significant milestone with a special global livestream event, “Beyond A Billion: A Night to Celebrate the Bible,” scheduled for November 17 at 7 p.m. CST. This event celebrates the app reaching one billion installs, an achievement that underscores its influence and the expanding use of technology in engaging with Scripture.
Held at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center, the livestream features prominent worship leaders and communicators such as Lauren Daigle, CeCe Winans, and Phil Wickham. The evening aims to be a worldwide celebration of worship and gratitude, emphasizing the timeless impact of the Bible.
Bobby Gruenewald, YouVersion’s founder and CEO, expressed the event’s significance by stating, “This milestone is really a celebration of the Bible itself and what happens when people around the world work together to get it into the hands and hearts of more people.”
This celebration coincides with a record-breaking year for YouVersion, where global app installs have surged by over 12%, and daily usage has increased by 18%. The platform, including the Bible App for Kids and Bible Lens, sees Scripture being opened one billion times every 39 days.
YouVersion, since its debut in 2008, has made significant strides, offering more than 3,600 Bible translations in over 2,300 languages, thereby reaching communities often neglected by traditional publishers. The app collaborates with a network of over 31,000 churches and content creators, including 7,200 content partners across 25,000 churches globally.
The United Kingdom has notably contributed to this growth, with over 17.7 million installations. Stephen Foster, Rector of St Aldate’s Church in Oxford, noted, “There is a surprising growth in church attendance, particularly among young people.”
Complementing Global Bible Month, the livestream is a highlight of the initiative which collaborates with organizations like Glorify, Hallow, and The Bible Project. The campaign encourages a 30-Day Bible Challenge, promoting daily engagement with Scripture throughout November.
Bobby Gruenewald further emphasized, “In a world where everyone’s searching for what’s real and true, we’ve seen one thing consistently transform lives, and that’s daily engagement with Scripture.” The event also shares inspiring stories of individuals transformed by the Bible and outlines future plans to make Scripture more accessible worldwide.
The livestream is available internationally via the YouVersion Bible App and its channels, with access beginning at 6:30 p.m. CST.
