SPCK Celebrates a Landmark Year with Top Honors in Christian Publishing
In a remarkable turn of events, the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK) has been named Publisher of the Year at the Christian Resources Together Awards 2026. This recognition caps off what SPCK describes as “an extraordinary year” for the organization.
During the event, several SPCK titles were also honored. Harry Clark’s Staying Faithful, which won Traitors, was awarded Audiobook of the Year. Meanwhile, Emma Fowle’s All The Times You Were Not There received the Biography of the Year award, and John Lennox’s God, AI and The End of History was celebrated as the Christian Life Book of the Year.
Founded in 1698, SPCK has expanded significantly in recent years. After merging with Inter-Varsity Press in 2015, the organization became Britain’s largest Christian publisher in 2021 through its acquisition of Lion Hudson.
In a major move earlier this month, SPCK acquired the US-based publisher William B Eerdmans, solidifying its status as “the world’s leading independent Christian publisher of theology, biblical studies, and Christian trade.”
SPCK Group CEO Sam Richardson expressed his joy over the accolade, saying, “Being named Publisher of the Year is a huge moment for SPCK Group. It recognises an extraordinary year for our authors and our team—a year in which we’ve grown, reached new audiences and seen books about Christian faith become part of much bigger cultural conversations.”
Richardson emphasized the importance of SPCK’s mission: “That is what we want SPCK Group to be doing: publishing books that engage seriously with the world we live in, strengthen and equip Christian readers around the globe, and bring light and truth to some of the most difficult questions of our time.”
He also lauded the authors and their award-winning books as “exceptional,” adding, “These awards belong to our authors and to the remarkable people across SPCK who champion their work, and to the booksellers and bookstores who put these books into readers’ hands and help them find their audience.”
Richardson concluded by expressing his gratitude: “We’re deeply grateful for the role they play in bringing important books into communities and conversations across the country.”
