When a pregnant woman’s vehicle became disabled following a collision during her DoorDash shift in Detroit, two police officers stepped in to ensure her delivery reached its destination. The officers not only managed the scene of the accident but also took it upon themselves to complete the food delivery on her behalf.
Bryanna Fantozzi was six months pregnant and working as a delivery driver when her Ford Fusion was damaged in a crash. Despite her vehicle being inoperable, Fantozzi remained concerned about fulfilling her outstanding delivery order. She approached the responding officers at the scene and asked if they could help her complete the task.
Officers step up to help
Sterling Heights Police Lieutenant David Allen and his partner agreed to assist. The incident, which was recorded on the officers’ body cameras, shows them retrieving the delivery items—groceries and an order from Texas Roadhouse—and placing them in their patrol vehicle to transport to the customer.
Lieutenant Allen downplayed the gesture when discussing the incident. “This was nothing spectacular on our end,” Allen humbly explained. He noted that it was evident how much completing the delivery mattered to Fantozzi. “It wasn’t something that was that difficult for me to help her out with,” Allen added.
A lighthearted delivery with a serious message
When the officers arrived at the customer’s address, Allen delivered the food along with two humorous “warnings.” He told the recipient he couldn’t be held responsible if the order was incorrect, and joked that if it included Texas Roadhouse rolls, she should consider herself fortunate they arrived intact.
The delivery recipient, who had four sick children at home, was touched by the circumstances and offered to give Fantozzi baby clothes for her expected child. Fantozzi expressed appreciation for both the officers’ help and the customer’s generosity.
Lieutenant Allen later reflected that the accident could’ve been “much worse,” particularly given the poor weather conditions at the time. The swift response from law enforcement ensured that the delivery was completed and all parties remained safe despite the challenging situation.
